The outcome of today's Pretoria high court judgement has been much awaited, as it has now clarified the how to strengthen constitutional democracy in pursuit of the public protector's constitutional mandate. The high court has set aside the public protector's findings that President Cyril Ramaphosa deliberately misled parliament about the donation he received for his CR17 campaign. President Cyril Ramaphosa was not obliged to disclose to Parliament donations to his CR17 campaign, according to the court. The court also found no evidence that the President, in his personal capacity, financially benefited from the campaign.
