Sponsored by Old Mutual, the Soweto Marathon 2015 races are run through the heart of Soweto to enable participants the opportunity of experiencing the township’s rich history. The people’s race is indeed a historical tour of the biggest township in South Africa, due to the route shown below, passing the Walter Sisulu Square of Dedication in Kliptown, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, the Hector Pieterson Memorial, Winnie-Madikizela Mandela’s house and Jabulani Mall.
