Broos says finishing third in the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast earlier this year has been the highlight. It was Bafana's first medal in continental football in 24 years.

He also became the first Bafana Bafana coach to qualify the team for consecutive AFCON tournaments.

After that third place finish Broos also guided the team to qualify for the 2025 edition in Morocco. This time Bafana did it without losing a match.

And Broos says this was the most successful year as Bafana Bafana coach., “You know that if i look at this 2024 it's a fantastic year we started with the bronze medal in AFCON we played fantastic games against Algeria, against Zimbabwe, against, against Congo and i think we way we ended it by qualifying i think that's something we had to do. I wanted to finish in beauty, to do a good game with a nice win we succeeded with that and now we can say we've got a good team’.
