Following the Springboks’ second successive Rugby Championship victory over the Wallabies yesterday, mixed martial artist, Dricus du Plessis, successfully defended his Ultimate Fighting Championship Middleweight title in the Western Australia capital this morning.

Du Plessis won by submission in the fourth round against Nigerian-born Israel Adesanya.

Adesanaya who now lives in New Zealand, is a former two-time world champion.

Du Plessis’ record is now 22 fights with just two defeats, while this was Adesanya’s fourth loss in 25 fights with three of those defeats coming in his last three bouts.
