He’s accused of misusing R1.3 million($72 000) of SAFA funds for personal gain.

The charges against Jordaan include fraud, theft and irregularly using SAFA funds to hire a communications company to manage his image.

That was after former African National Congress Member of Parliament, Jennifer Ferguson, alleged that Jordaan had raped her in 2017.

Meanwhile, civil society organisation #NotInMyName International is urging Jordaan to step down.

Co-founder and Secretary-General Themba Masango says, “Finally, the Hawks, have decided to make sure that this case needs to be ventilated in a court of law and on Wednesday they’ll be appearing in court, and there’s probably more charges that are going to be added there. We are glad that this issue is finally going to court but we are saying that while this is happening, we are urging the Jordaan, to step down until the resolution of criminal charges against him is over.”

Jordaan has served as SAFA President since 2013.

He was previously vice President and Chief Executive Officer at SAFA; and was also part of the 2010 World Cup local organising and bid committees.
