The team is expected to reignite national pride ahead of the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN).
As the countdown to the tournament tightens, the Guinean Football Federation has named a 26-man provisional squad, marking the beginning of what the country hopes will be a redemptive campaign on the continental stage.
Instead of training on home soil, the team has opted for a bold preparation strategy, launching its training camp in neighbouring Senegal. The move is intended to expose the squad to a more competitive environment and higher-calibre opposition.
The Syli Locaux are set to play two back-to-back friendlies against reigning CHAN champions Senegal this Friday and Saturday in Dakar, an early test of the team’s readiness and cohesion before heading into a challenging Group C, where they will face Algeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Niger.
