Erasmus makes wholesale changes for 2nd Wallabies test

Date: Aug 13, 2024

Springbok Coach, Rassie Erasmus has rung the changes for his team’s second Rugby Championship test match against Australia in Perth on Saturday.

He made 10 changes to his starting fifteen with scrumhalf Morne van den Berg and lock Ruan Nortje will earn their first Test starts.

Salmaan Moerat will captain the team from lock.

Regular captain, Siya Kolisi, is one of nine players from Saturday’s 33-7 victory in Brisbane, who is rotated, and he’s replaced by Marco van Staden.

The only players retaining their starting places are wing Cheslin Kolbe, centre Jesse Kriel, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu at flyhalf, number eight Elrigh Louw and Pieter-Steph du Toit, who moves from lock to flanker.

The changes to the team were motivated by Erasmus’ desire to continue finding the balance between building momentum and expanding squad depth.
