Proteas Women’s SA training camp a success: Coach

Date: Feb 25, 2025

Proteas Women Coach Mandla Mashimbyi says the first four-day national training camp in Pretoria, Gauteng province last week was a big success.

Mashimbyi says the reason for the camp was to impart his vision and skills to the players.

Mashimbyi says they have implemented their coaching philosophies and approach while putting the players through their paces in intense fitness and skills sessions at the Cricket South Africa Centre of Excellence in Tshwane.

Mashimbyi explains, "No, I thought it was a successful exercise. I think the girls responded very, very well for the task at hand. I think when we came, let me put it this way: I think the way they went out of the camp was definitely different from the way they walked in. Obviously, a lot of them were curious as to how things were going to go with the new coach and the new way of doing things, and obviously the rain did not help from the skills point of view, but also that has given an opportunity to engage with one another and connect with another. The purpose of the camp was educational and skill."
