The race, held on June 9, 2024, took runners from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. Steyn, who has now claimed three Comrades Marathon titles, also holds the down run record, which she set in 2023.

The 2024 victory earned her more than 112 000 dollars in prize money and bonuses. With her eyes set on future achievements, Steyn says she’s determined to continue breaking barriers in long-distance running.

Her earnings are further boosted by sponsorship deals, including with THIRSTI, a sports drink brand, and her membership with the Hollywood Athletics Club, which is backed by Hollywoodbets. She has also benefitted from record bonuses and hotspot prizes at Comrades.

For 2025, the Comrades Marathon prize purse has been increased by 10% across the board. Winners of both the men’s and women’s races will receive $49 000, including a top-up bonus.
