SA's under-20 coach refuses to be drawn on salary debate

Date: Jun 12, 2025

South Africa’s (SA) under 20 national team head soccer coach, Raymond Mdaka says he will not be dragged into the debate over his salary

Mdaka's salary, which is far low compared to the Bafana Bafana coach's, has recently been questioned in parliament after the Amajita's coach earnings was revealed.

Mdaka who guided Amajita to clinch the under 20 African Cup of Nation trophy received a warm welcome in his home town of Tzaneen in Limpopo today. Mdaka says he is only focused on doing his job and he cannot stop people talking.

“As a coach, (one) needs to have the heart of accepting some things, more especially if they are not in one’s hands. You cannot stop people from talking, as well as how they speak to you. For others, it might be quite disturbing, others might be pleading with you but these are the things that we don't normally focus on. We just allow it as it is and nature will sort it out,” Mdaka said.
