Angel will stage a boxing development tournament consisting of seven bouts in Malamulele Boxing Hall on Saturday afternoon. Hlatshwayo held (International Boxing Federation (IBF) and IBO world titles
Professional boxing action returns to Malamulele after several years. The town has been described as one of the boxing Meccas in the country by some sports enthusiasts.
The area has produced boxing champions like Former IBF Junior featherweight champion, Jeffrey Mathebula and Cassius “Shy Guy” Baloyi who remains the only local boxer to win six world titles in three different weight divisions.Fourteen boxers will feature in the tournament of which ten hail from Limpopo.
For over a decade, Isaac Hlatshwayo was paid to fight but the tables have turned. He is now a promoter and he will pay boxers who will participate in the tournament.
“I have done this for the people of Limpopo my home and of course most importantly our boxers I want them to mostly fight here rather to fight somewhere else outside the province. In the next five years, the angel promotion will be one of the best in the world with the experience I accumulated of course throughout the years of course that will come in handy of course held to shape the future of our boxers in the country.”
