The Wimbledon doubles champion’s mother has died suddenly.

Her management team says she is struggling to recover mentally because the emotional impact of the loss is profound.

According to Montjane, the decision is one of the most difficult she has ever made.

She played one doubles match, which she and her partner Mariska Venter won on Friday at the Paralympics.

Montjane was victorious at Wimbledon in July.
