Date: Jul 3, 2025

New AS Monaco signing, Eric Dier has said the news that Portuguese forward, Diogo Jota had been killed in a car crash near Zamora in northwestern Spain with his brother is 'incredibly shocking news'

Dier also wished to send his condolences to the Liverpool player's family.

Jota, 28, had in late June just married his partner of 10 years with whom he had three children.

"We have lost two champions. Their deaths represent irreparable losses for Portuguese football, and we will do everything we can to honour their legacy every day," the Portuguese Football Federation said of Jota and his brother Andre Silva, a footballer who played for Penafiel in the Portuguese second division.
