Calls for more support for Bafana Bafana

Date: Oct 15, 2024

South African football legend Daniel Mudau has called for more support for Bafana Bafana following their exciting performances in recent times.

The former striker was speaking after the South African Senior Men's National team defeated Congo 5-0 in a 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played in Gqeberha on Friday.

Two goals by Teboho Mokoena and one each from Bathusi Aubaas, Lyle Foster and Iqraam Rayners were enough to give Hugo Broos' charges a comfortable and memorable victory. The squad is currently in Congo, Brazzaville for the return leg to be played on Tuesday.

“Wow wow, what a marvellous performance by Bafana Bafana. Lets leave coach Hugo Broos and Helman Mkhelele so they ca make us proud they are making us proud.

As long as the team is playing the way they play we must support the team  because I bet for Bafana Bafana and they are playing a their own level because you cant undermine the performance of Bafana Bafana recently.

Mudau says the national team's performance against the Congo took him back to the 1996 AFCON final against Tunisia, which South Africa won.

“They performance show  winning 5-0 remind me of the AFCON final against Tunisia, the same performance they play.

We saw what Mark Williams did, Doctor Khumalo, the late Sizwe, Shoes Moshoeu.  The performance against Congo reminds me of 1996 when I was on the bench  watching Shoes, Phil Masinga, Mark Williams.”
