Kaizer Chiefs coach plans to strengthen the team during January window

Date: Oct 1, 2024

South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed plans are in place to strengthen the team and particularly their attack in the next transfer window in January.

Top clubs in Africa scout critical positions like strikers from the teams playing in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup group stages or from outside the continent. Chiefs have been relying only on Ranga Chivaviro, Ashley du Preez and Christian Saile, players who don't have a good striker rate ratio, Nabi shares the difficulty of scouting for the best talent on the continent.

“ I think my strikers today and last game, they scored. I agree with you, the market in Africa is very, very short, you have maybe three, four, or five good players but all the clubs in Africa take them like Esperance, Al Ahly, Zamalek. The market in Africa is not positive in this moment.

The seven signings that they've made this season mainly addressed the defensive profile of the team and not the attack.

Nabi says they are now scouting for talent they will be adding in the next window...

“For myself, I think look now, in October we don't play then we have November and December. Then in January, the window opens. I need to scout for the quality that I need.”
