Nigeria finished fifth out of nine participating countries in the tournament held in Kigali, Rwanda. However, Oyede believes the team’s final position is less important than the experience and lessons gained throughout the competition.
During the week-long tournament, Nigeria stunned defending champions and highest-ranked team Uganda with a thrilling five-run win in the group stage. The team also recorded its first-ever victory against Tanzania, edging them out by two wickets, although the East Africans went on to win the tournament overall.
The 11th edition of the Kwibuka Tournament featured nine teams and was held in commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
