Having already secured qualification for the prestigious event in September, Geldenhuys is eager to test herself against the world's best on the global stage.
She believes making the final eight would be a major milestone in her career, adding to her bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, “Luckily, I have already qualified for world champs from the Olympic Games.
“My goals at world champs to run the final and if its God's plan and be in my best shape and a podium finish will be amazing”
Despite clocking a sub-54-second time in last year's Olympic semi-final in Paris, a disappointed Geldenhuys narrowly missed out on qualifying for her first major global final and is now more determined to make the cut in Tokyo this year.
“It was a bittersweet moment because I broke my PPB and I run for the first time under 54 seconds. But missing that final was a hard bow for me, but I was happy with my performance. Next time I must make sure I am an Automatic qualifier.”
