This year’s marathon is set to take place on Sunday and will feature four race categories: men’s and women’s 42 kilometre (km) full marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km race, and the 4km fun run.
The 2025 edition has drawn around 16 000 participants from 70 countries, including elite athletes from Ethiopia, Britain, China, and India underscoring its status as a premier international event.
The Nairobi City Marathon now offers the largest prize purse on the African continent. Winners of the 42km marathon will each receive approximately $27 000. Second-place finishers will earn $15 000, and those in third place will walk away with $8 000.
