Sevens head coach Philip Snyman has included 10 players who have tasted glory at the Emirates Dubai 7s. Snyman says he was very happy with the preparations for the new season and the way the 17 players named in the final Dubai training group responded to the challenge to make the final cut.

“Yes, I think with the 17 guys who were in the training squad I think a guy like Mfundo and Shawn who returned after being out on injury they only had one wee with the team before we announced. It could been more difficult, they will get their opportunity soon. But losing a guy like Selwyn Davids also, a difficult decision, but I am really happy with the squad we are taking to Dubai.”
