The world acclaimed shortly after the 97th edition, ultra marathon was thrown into tumult when conflict broke out between board members.

One board member was banned for life and another escaped sanction during a fiery Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) special general meeting a week ago.

Mkasi says it would be important for South Africans and athletes around the globe to differentiate or distinguish between the CMA and the race, the event itself.

“There may be issues within the CMA, but there are no issues with the race,” Mkasi said.
