SA’s Made By Basketball secure first BAL win

Date: May 22, 2025

South Africa’s representatives in the 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL), Made By Basketball (MBB), have registered their first victory of the tournament with a thrilling 74–71 win over Kenya’s Nairobi City Thunder in the Nile Conference.

MBB had a tough start to the competition, suffering back-to-back losses against Al Ahli Tripoli and Rwanda’s APR over the weekend. However, in their third outing, they showed resilience, overturning a deficit after trailing in the first three quarters to seal the hard-fought win.

Veteran player Pieter Prinsloo shared his reaction after the match, "I'm ecstatic. It was a hard-fought game. We went up early, then dug ourselves into a hole, I think we were down by 17 or 24. We knew we needed this win today. We have a goal to go back to South Africa for the playoffs. We dug in, clawed our way back, used a bit of energy until the last seconds, and got a bit of victory. There's only one answer, we’ve got a day to recover, then we’ve got another one."

The win keeps MBB’s hopes alive for a playoff spot as they prepare for the rest of their Nile Conference fixtures.
