The 75-year-old Tshabalala died earlier yesterday afternoon in hospital after he succumbed to injuries he suffered when he was shot by intruders during a break-in at his house in March this year.
Tshabalala was close friend to Pirates and Premier soccer League Chairperson, Irvin Khoza.
Tshabalala was born in Orlando East, Soweto in 1949. He was a founder member of Kaizer Chiefs in 1970.
He also coached Mamelodi Sundowns in the 1980’s making the club popular with its unique style of play.
Tshabalala was the first coach to lead Bafana Bafana in an official FIFA match after South Africa’s readmission into international football back in 1992.
He also worked for Chiefs as technical Director, before joining their arch-rivals Pirates.
Tshabalala also worked for the SA Football Association as team manager.
In his long career in football Tshabalala served as team manager, technical Director, and also contributed immensely to the development of football in SA.
