Springbok Women gear up for 2025 Rugby World Cup

Date: May 21, 2025

The Springbok Women have been drawn into Pool D for the 2025 Rugby World Cup in England, where they will face France, Italy, and Brazil.

Currently ranked 12th in the world, South Africa is set to take on two top-10 teams, fourth-ranked France and eighth-ranked Italy, as well as 42nd-ranked Brazil.

Prop Babalwa Latsha says the squad has made significant progress following a recent training camp.

“We’ve concluded our camp a few days ago and we made fantastic growth. There is so much depth in our squad now,” said Latsha. “We’ve had a number of young players coming through our junior systems who are now getting ready for the Africa Cup, which is phenomenal on our part.”

With the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup and World Cup preparations underway, Latsha says the team is motivated and focused.

“Preparations are going well. We are looking forward to being on the global stage and seeing what impact we can make. More than anything, we want to prove that we’re not going there just to participate, we’re going there to compete. Looking at our pool, I think there is so much potential, and it’s quite exciting what the future looks like for the Springbok Women.”
