SA's Tete Dijana wins 2025 Men's Comrades Marathon

Date: Jun 8, 2025

South Africa's (SA)Tete Dijana has won the men's 2025 Comrades Marathon.

The Mahikeng resident won the 98th edition of the Ultimate Human Race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban for the third time, adding to his triumphs in 2022 and 2023.

Dijana, who holds the down run record, timed his race to perfection. Running in the colours of the Nedbank Running Club, he took the lead with approximately 16 kilometres to go and completed the 89.98-kilometre race in an unofficial time of 5 hours, 25 minutes, and 28 seconds. While that time is 11-and-a-half minutes slower than his record set two years ago, it was over a different course.

Dutchman Piet Wiersma, the 2024 champion, finished second—just as he did in 2023—crossing the finish line only five seconds behind Dijana. Russian runner Nikolai Volkov came in third.
