Win against Mozambique will be important for Bafana’s ranking: Coach

Date: Jun 9, 2025

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says a win against Mozambique will be important for the team’s ranking.

Bafana will face Mozambique in their second international friendly encounter at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, on Tuesday evening.

They played to a goalless draw in their first friendly clash against Tanzania last Friday at the same venue.

Broos says he will field a totally different team against Mozambique.

“We are ready, it will be totally different team compared with the team of last Friday. After these two games, we can be able to make an evaluation of the young boys. Players are here for the first time with us; I want to win against Mozambique. We have to take into account that there is world ranking. We will try everything to win the game. Let’s hope we will succeed.”

Orlando Pirates Defender Nkosinathi Sibisi will captain Bafana Bafana against Mozambique.

He says they want to win the game to boost their confidence.

“For me is a privilege and an honour to be able to lead the team. I [would] like to thank the coach for showing confidence in me. We have been together from the very first camp when he came because there was sometimes question marks whenever I was here.”

“There results always matter, as players we always play to win games. It really boosts our confidence. Now we know if we win, the country is happier and safer place for everyone.”
