Although she has already claimed four Grand Slam doubles titles, the singles crown has remained out of reach during her decade-long professional career.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Montjane said that having the backing to travel with a full-time coach and physiotherapist could be crucial to making history before she retires. She also highlighted the challenges of continuing her journey with limited resources and minimal external support.
"I need to be funded. I need a full-time travelling coach, trainer, and a physio. I need these two people because they are important. I play two matches a day, I play singles and doubles and the body needs to rest. On my own, it’s tough to get it to where it needs to be and get ready for the next match," said Montjane.
