TP Mazembe aims to qualify for 2026 FIFA Women's Club World Cup

Democratic Republic of Congo football side TP Mazembe coach Lamia Boumehdi says one of their biggest goals for 2025 is to qualify for the 2026 FIFA Women's Club World Cup.

FIFA launched the new 16-team club tournament in 2024 to take place in January and February 2026, with specific details regarding the tournament's structure and qualification for participating teams yet to be confirmed.

Boumehdi, who won the 2024 CAF Women's Coach of the Year Award after becoming the first-ever female coach to win the CAF Women's Champions League at the end of last year, says their aim is to defend the title in 2025.

The 41-year-old, who started playing for the Morocco senior women's national team at the age of 16, shared a bit of her own background in football.
