Elias Mokwana becomes first South African to play in Tunisia

Date: Aug 2, 2024

Elias Mokwana will become the first South African to play for top Tunisian club Esperance after he was unveiled by the north African giants on Thursday having signed a three-year contract.

The Bafana Bafana winger makes the move from Sekhukhune United, who will be loath to lose their top player, but were made an offer too good to refuse for the 24-year-old.

Esperance were beaten finalists in the CAF Champions League last season and the move offers Mokwana the chance to play in the elite club competition in the coming campaign, as well as next year's expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
