This after SA dominated Malawi to a 37-32 win to defend their championship at the Windhoek Showgrounds, in Namibia. Mathosa says this is attachment to SA currently being the leading African nation in netball.
It shows that we are the best in Africa. I am glad that I have been a part of this journey since 2021 and we keep winning the championship.
I think school sports plays a big role in equipping our players for major tournaments.
We want to keep this momentum, come back again and retain this title. I am actually happy that we made SA proud.
South Africa maintained a consistent performance in this year's edition, winning five out five matches, opening with a 53-38 win over Zambia, followed by 92-14 win against eSwatini, and also secure a 48-29 over Malawi in the quarter-final, followed by a 60-26 win against Namibia in the semifinals on Thursday.
This is what Mathosa had to say as she reflects on team performance...
“It shows we have a nice group of girls. Every time we go to compete there is different teams different girls so and I believe that these girls are willing they want to represent the country very well in Africa.
We getting right by the resources we have in SA because the girls have been in many events they train at schools they play tournament so the more game time they get the more they grow in the game so I am glad that we were able to win and bring the trophy back at home.”
