Exceptional African: Trevor Noah

This week's Exceptional African is South African comedian, television host, actor, and political commentator, Trevor Noah.

He is currently the host of The Daily Show, an American satirical news program on Comedy Central.

As a South African born in Johannesburg, Noah began his career in 2002.

The award-winning host worked with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and was runner-up in the fourth season of South Africa's version of Strictly Come Dancing in 2008.

He created and hosted the late-night talk show Tonight with Trevor Noah, which aired on M-Net and DStv from 2010 to 2011.

He became The Daily Show's Senior International Correspondent in 2014, and he succeeded long-time host Jon Stewart in 2015 and published his autobiographical comedy book Born a Crime in 2016.

His hosting duties for the 63rd Grammy Awards and 64th Grammy Awards took place in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

In addition to his two MTV Africa Music Awards, Noah has won a Primetime Emmy Award from eleven nominations.

The Hollywood Reporter named him one of “The 35 Most Powerful People in New York media” in 2017 and 2018.

Time magazine ranked him among the top hundred most influential people in the world in 2018.
