DNA results in deceased journalist, wife may take one month: SA police boss

Date: May 12, 2025

Two of the people arrested in connection with the disappearance of South African (SA) journalist, Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Mdhluli were expected to appear in the Kwa-Mhlanga Magistrate's Court in SA’s Mpumalanga province on Monday

The couple was last seen in the town of Mamelodi, in Pretoria, in February.

Last week, police discovered human remains believed to be those of the missing couple in Rust de Winter, in the Limpopo province. So far, five people have been arrested in connection with the case and the weekend, SA’s National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola said it may take a few weeks for DNA tests to confirm the identities of the remains

"I terms of the DNA we will try our best to expedite. But give and take a month to come to the right conclusion. The DNA will take more or less, three to four weeks. We think we will be able to know," Masemola said.
