He says this will ensure that the sacrifices of the youth of 1976 were not in vain.
Malema was addressing the Youth Day Commemoration at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal. The event is also part of the EFF’s broader strategy to grow its support in the province ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
In his address, Malema called for immediate reforms in the education sector:
"We want free education now. We want Wi-Fi now, food at schools now. We want teachers who are going to teach our children, not rape our children. We want teachers who are going to provide quality education to the children of SA. We want functioning schools. We don’t want pit toilets at schools. We don’t want schools that are not properly built. We want schools that are properly built, that recognise and restore our dignity."
