Recent social media posts allege that the hospital is prioritising foreign nationals over South African citizens, particularly in the antenatal ward. One post claimed that 10 foreigners were occupying beds, leaving a number of pregnant South African women without access to care.
Provincial Department of Health Spokesperson, Nathi Olifant says the social media claims are misleading.
“ The KwaZulu-Natal department of health wishes to correct a misleading claim, currently circulating on social media regarding the allocation of bed space at RK Khan hospital in Chatsworth, eThekwini. We strongly refute these allegations,” Olifant said.
