The gathering brings together 1 300 young people from across the continent for a three-day dialogue on the future of Africa's youth.
Hosted by the SA government through the Department of Social Development, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, the summit marks the start of a groundbreaking event focused on child participation and empowerment.
The child-led summit will address critical issues affecting the well-being of Africa's children, including education, health, child protection, and climate change. The summit builds on the success of the inaugural Africa Children's Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2023.
Delegates in Johannesburg will review progress made since then and propose new, actionable solutions to improve the lives of children throughout Africa.
