Save SA slams exoneration of 12 Pretoria High School learners

Date: Aug 4, 2024

The Save South Africa Civic Movement says it is not only disgusted but rejects the not guilty findings into the alleged racism by 12 Pretoria High School for Girls learners.

The learners who were suspended for allegations of racism were exonerated following a disciplinary hearing that the School Governing Body had convened.

The learners were implicated in conversations that allegedly included racial commentary and complaints against black learners on a chat group comprising white learners only.

Save SA’s Spokesperson Tebogo Mashilompane says, “Save South Africa Civic Movement has the following demands to make if the chairperson feels she has acted with fairness, Ubuntu and impartiality: One, make public the content of the conversation without attaching the names of the learners, alternatively, make public a summary of the WhatsApp content. Two, we demand individual reports from each of the three members of the disciplinary committee. Three, if demand one and two fail, we demand a rerun of the disciplinary hearing and this time an impartial, fit and proper person must be sought.”
