Speaking at the memorial service in Pretoria, Lubinda says the neighbouring country should uphold the dignity he was denied in life and now in death.
Lungu’s body is expected to be repatriated from South Africa where he was being treated to Zambia on Wednesday.
Lubinda has lamented how Lungu was treated after leaving office.
He recalled how his home was once surrounded by police and his gate broken down by officers who once saluted him as head of state.
The Zambian diaspora expressed solidarity and agreed that Lungu’s legacy must be respected and his memory preserved with dignity and fairness.
