This action comes in the wake of disturbances reported in Mozambique, which have sparked protests impacting major transport routes.
The BMA, in conjunction with the SA Revenue Service, has responded to the escalating situation that has seen the road between Ressano Garcia and Maputo Harbour affected by the civil unrest.
Mmemme Mogotsi, the BMA's Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Communications and Marketing, provided further details on the situation.
"The Mozambican Defense Force and Police have been mobilised, yet the route remains closed to truck traffic. We anticipate the disruption will continue until Thursday afternoon, subject to change as events unfold. In the interim, our officials are processing foot traffic and smaller vehicles at the Lebombo entry point," stated Mogotsi.
