The High Court in Pretoria halted Lungu’s burial after the southern African country’s government filed a lawsuit against his family, seeking to stop his burial in South Africa yesterday.
The State argues that no burial should take place until disputes surrounding Lungu’s final resting place are resolved.
Kototobwe spoke with SABC News at Lungu’s private funeral in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
He says, “Clearly, what should happen next is very simple, it’s just to obey the wishes of our late sixth President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu. So if his wish is that the current sitting President must not be present or must stay away from his funeral, our only appeal to the current President is to obey the wishes of our late President. In this life, there are some things you can change, and there are some things you can’t change.”
