SA’s Phala Phala farm trial to resume

Date: May 19, 2025

The trial of the three accused in the case of theft on South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa's Phala Phala farm is expected to start on Monday in the Modimolle Regional Court in Limpopo Province.

Immanuela David and siblings, Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph, allegedly broke into Ramaphosa's farm.

They then allegedly stole over $580 000 that had been hidden in a sofa.

David has been denied bail and is in police custody and Joseph siblings were granted bail.

During the pre-trial proceedings, the state indicated that it had lined up 23 witnesses to testify in the trial.

Lawyers representing the Joseph siblings told court that they would call five witnesses, including the two accused.

The trio face charges of housebreaking, theft and conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal.

Floriana worked as a domestic worker at the farm at time of the theft. She is believed to have tipped off her co-accused about the money.
