Date: Jul 14, 2025

Over 250 delegates are expected to attend the second technical meeting of the G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group, which begins this Monday in Skukuza, located within the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.

The meeting, hosted by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, will run until Friday.

Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Dr. Dion George, says the goal is to ensure that South Africa upholds its commitments to solidarity, equality, and sustainability in global climate action.

"This meeting will focus on technical aspects, specifically related to climate finance, biodiversity conservation, pollution management, and ocean governance," said George.

"SA is a very sensible member of the international community and will ensure that it plays its part in mitigating and adapting to climate change. We’re also committed to fighting the scourge of international illicit wildlife trafficking, and to cleaning up our oceans, ensuring that our environment is cleaner and greener for generations to come."
