The two countries share close bilateral cooperation due to having a historic relationship that was cemented during the fight against colonialism and apartheid.

Magwenya says that SA will reaffirm the strategic relationship between the two nations, “Ramaphosa is looking forward to working closely with the new president of Namibia and the government to advance mutual political, economic interest and the integration of the African continent.

Both countries pursue Africa's renewal Sub-Southern co-operation, and the promotion of a rules based international system.”
