Police believe the suspect is the ringleader behind a kidnapping syndicate targeting businessmen.

Police Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says the suspect was under police surveillance after a SA businessman was kidnapped in Roodepoort, Gauteng, in July.

“We have been looking for this particular suspect, we also believe that he is a key figure in the drugs that were found. So we would like to congratulate our team who have been hard at work in tracing this particular suspect,” said Mathe.

She added upon arrival at the airport, the man was intercepted and arrested.

He is set to be charged alongside eight other suspects arrested for the kidnapping of the businessman while another charge related to drugs.
