The Court was formally opened by President Nelson Mandela on the morning of February 14, 1995.
A key institution which has, since the dawn of democracy, protected, upheld and preserved the spirit and the values of the Constitution of the Republic of SA.
Led by Mandela, the Constitutional Court, 30 years ago saw its formal inauguration and unveiling of its first symbol, a plaque on February 14, 1995.
The Court, which is more representative of SA's, diverse nation is a product of SA's first democratic Constitution.
It is the highest court in the land, with the final authority on constitutional matters, which in the words of Mandela, deals with the rights of millions of ordinary people.
