Minister denies graft claims but accepts SA President’s decision

Date: Jul 14, 2025

South African (SA) Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has denied corruption allegations levelled against him.

However he says he accepts and supports President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to place him on leave of absence.

This comes after KwaZulu-Natal Province Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi alleged that Mchunu and some Senior Police officials were corrupt, had links to criminal syndicates, and interfered with police operations.

Mchunu says he is ready to respond to the allegations.

The opposition party the Democratic Alliance (DA) has laid criminal charges against him.
