South African (SA) government says it will file new arguments in its case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague next month.

Pretoria intends to provide facts and evidence to prove that Israel is committing the crime of genocide in Palestine. It says there has been no request by any government to drop the case that it has brought before the ICJ.

The statement was in response to media reports in the United States that Israel had instructed its in-country missions including its embassy in Washington to lobby American lawmakers in Congress and state legislatures to pressure Pretoria to drop its legal proceedings at the ICJ.

Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says this case will continue until the court makes a finding.

Magwenya says, “SA intends to provide facts and evidence to prove that Israel was committing the crime of genocide in Palestine. Thus far, there has been no request from any government to drop the case that the SA government brought before the ICJ. This case will continue until the court makes a finding. While the case is in progress (we) hope that Israel will abide by the court’s provisional orders issued to date.”
