They have rejected the results of the October 09 election, saying they were not free and fair.

Speaking to the SABC, the Mayor of Quelimane, Manuel de Araújo is appealing to the SADC leadership to invite the opposition in Mozambique to be able to resolve the impasse.

SADC will have an urgent meeting in Harare, Zimbabwe, to discuss the situation in Mozambique.

De Araújo says the protests are negatively affecting the economy of that country.

“ I was very happy to hear the remarks that President Mbeki made. President Ramaphosa,  I asked for a meeting with your minister of external affairs but it has been two weeks now. His personal assistant has not answered yet, I just wanted to raise the issue so that he could listen.”
