Phosa says his main concern was that members on the ground would not like it.

The ten party GNU was formed this year after the ANC lost its majority at the 29 May polls. 

Phosa was speaking today on his political memoir "Witness to Power"

"I don't think I'm the one to judge the decision of the party now. But when we were asked in the beginning what we think about, for example, the ANC and the DA, I expressed myself in a particular way. That my worry is that members on the ground will not like this. And then they might pass a harsh judgment against the ANC in the local government elections."
