South African (SA) Political analyst Kenneth Mokgatlhe says mass resignations from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are expected to continue following the departure of the party’s Deputy President Floyd Shivambu.

Earlier this week, former Public Protector and EFF Member of Parliament(MP) Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane announced her resignation from the party citing a lack of numbers in Parliament and wanting to spend more time with her family.

Yesterday, another EFF MP, Fana Mokoena, announced his resignation, giving unclear reasons.

Mokgatlhe says their resignations are not shocking.

“We are expecting more of them to leave after the National People’s Assembly, that is the elective conference of the EFF, that will be held in December. But it has been said that many people are not happy within the EFF.”

“There’s a great dishonesty, there’s great differences where people are not happy and they’re not able to raise their opinions. The only opinions that matter are the opinions of a leader. We know about the contentious issue of immigration policy, which have made many people unsettled within the EFF because it cost them in the last elections,” Mokgatlhe adds.
