The South African (SA) opposition party Democratic Alliance future in the Government of National Unity hangs in the balance after it voted against Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana's 2025 budget.
The adoption of the budget framework secured SA's Fiscal stability for the time being.
However the political implications of the budget impasse are far-reaching.
ANC Chief Whip in Parliament Mdumiseni Ntuli, "The essence of the substance of this budget is presenting an opportunity for our country to walk away from austerity budget and rather increase expenditure which as we all know is the corner stone for economic growth.
We are very optimistic and will undoubtedly hold government accountable to ensure that practical measures are taken."
