Date: Jun 1, 2025

A blitz by the police in South Africa's (SA) Limpopo has intercepted a bakkie transporting 42 bags of compressed marijuana, with a street value of $440 000.

The bakkie, which was pulling a trailer, was intercepted at the R36 weighbridge in Mooketsi.

A 27-year-old man has been taken into custody. SAPS Limpopo Spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba, says the suspect is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate's Court next week.

“The bakkie was stopped, searched, and found to be transporting 42 bags of compressed dagga with an estimated street value of $440 000. The suspect failed to account for the origin of the dagga and was immediately arrested. The Toyota Hilux bakkie and trailer used in the commission of the crime were all seized during the arrest.”
